Cindy Hill Decisions Raises Concern Among Education Employees

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — State schools Superintendent Cindy Hill's court victory is causing angst among some employees at the Wyoming Department of Education.

Department Director Richard Crandall says some employees were crying when they heard the news Tuesday. He sent out a memo Wednesday about workers due process rights.

Nearly a dozen current employees testified against Hill earlier this month during a legislative investigation into whether Hill committed any impeachable offenses when she oversaw the agency in 2011 and 2012.

Concerns about Hill's administrative of the department led to a law enacted last year that removed the superintendent as head of the agency.

On Tuesday, the state Supreme Court ruled the Legislature went too far in reducing the superintendent's constitutional duties.

Legislative leaders and Gov. Matt Mead have not commented on the ruling.
