LUDLOW, S.D. (AP) — Criminal charges have been filed against a Texas man in a South Dakota traffic crash that killed women from North Dakota and Wyoming.

The Highway Patrol says 34-year-old Winchester Wearden of Austin, Texas, is charged with reckless driving and passing in a no-passing zone. A telephone listing for him could not immediately be found.

Authorities say Wearden's pickup truck collided with a car on U.S. Highway 85 near the northwest South Dakota town of Ludlow late Sunday afternoon. The crash killed 21-year-old Samantha Vogel of Lincoln, N.D., and 61-year-old Judith Hampton of Newcastle, Wyo. The patrol says Wearden suffered minor injuries.
