Man, Teen Arrested for Breaking Into Casper Home [VIDEO]

Two people were arrested late Monday night after allegedly breaking into a Casper home and taking a laptop computer.

Demond Delvone-Young Harris, 20, of Detroit, Mich., was booked on charges of aggravated burglary and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary. If Harris is formally charged with aggravated burglary, he could face five to 25 years in prison.

The 17-year-old who was also arrested has not been named. His charging information will not be made publicly available.

At roughly 2:30 p.m. Saturday, detectives began investigating a burglary in the 1100 block of East 11th Street after police arrested Harris and the unnamed teen. A woman who believed Harris and the teen were trying to break into her home on South Jefferson reported them to police.

A black Samsung laptop computer was reported stolen.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video from the burglary on East 11th Street. The video reportedly showed both Harris and the teen entering the residence, with the teen carrying a semi-automatic pistol.

In an interview with police, Harris said he and his sister were stranded in Casper after resigning from a door-to-door sales team. Harris was desperate for money and told detectives the teen convinced him to go to a house and steal things.

Harris said he and the teen were picked up by an unknown man, who told them he knew of a place the pair could break into, as he had previously broken in.

Harris said he and the teen went to the back of the home, kicked in the rear garage door and forced their way into the home from the garage. They stole a laptop in order to pawn it, Harris told detectives.

Then, Harris said, he and the teen went to a home where they had been staying with two females. As they knocked on the front door, one of the resident's mothers confronted the men and told them police officers were headed to the home.

Harris said the teen handed him the gun. Harris took off, ditching the gun before police found him.

In his interview with detectives, the teen said he walked around Casper and knocked on doors to see if anyone was home. He allegedly admitted to breaking into a home.

Investigators noticed the teen was wearing shoes and trousers which "significantly resembled" those worn by the suspect holding the gun in the surveillance video.

Police executed a search warrant for the home on East Fourth Street, where Harris and the teen had stayed, and reportedly found a black Samsung laptop as well as clothing which resembled that worn by the teen in the video.

One witness told investigators she had seen the teen with a small, black pistol. She also said Harris and the teen told her they stole a laptop in a burglary.

Witnesses to the disturbance on South Jefferson told police they saw Harris and the teen in front of the home. The teen waited for police while Harris reportedly walked north on Jefferson, then headed west.

Police found a pistol -- matching that seen in the surveillance video -- in the alley between Jefferson and McKinley, north of East 15th Street.
