A Casper man has admitted that he tried to re-enter a bar with a gun, because witnesses say he wanted to kill someone.

John Knox has pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault.

Investigators with the Natrona County Sheriff's Office say in middle January, Knox was at Racks Gentlemen's Club, when he got into an argument and fight with another patron, and ended up being kicked out of the bar by bouncers.

One bouncer heard Knox say “‘Get him out here, I’m going to get my banger,'” and then saw Knox go to a vehicle, rummage around the front and back passenger seats and found a pistol, racked the slide to put a round in the chamber, and tried to get back into the bar.

One witness heard Knox say he wanted to kill someone.

Prosecutors say Knox was out on bond on an unrelated assault case, which he was convicted by a jury, when this incident took place.

As part of a plea deal prosecutors dropped one charge of attempted second degree murder, and one charge of possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent.

They also will not seek habitual criminal status.

Knox has agreed to waive his appeal rights is both this case and the other assault case.

There is no agreed upon prison time in the plea deal, which means Knox could get the maximum of up to 10 years in prison.

He is being held on $50,000 bond, and will be sentenced at a later date.
