Casper City Councilwoman Robin Mundell formally announced her resignation last week, and the city is taking applications for her replacement in Ward I, according to a news release.

"My letter will show a resignation effective at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, January the fifth 2016," Mundell said Tuesday.

"I thought it was important to get that date out there so that staff and you on the council can begin the process to begin looking for my replacement," she said.

Mundell announced her intent to resign last month at a news conference, citing her husband's health concerns and his need to move to a warmer climate.

Before her election to the council in 2014, she was the executive director of the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce from 2011 to 2013, and before that had worked for the city in its housing and community development departments.

Ward I is generally located between Poplar Street on the west side of the city and east to South Conwell Street and Bryan Stock Trail. Boundary maps can be found at https://geosmart.casperwy.gov/?map, click on the box marked Casper and then check the box marked "CouncilWards."
