A Casper man who tried to run over his wife is now charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Clint Webb, 42, heard the new charge at his initial appearance before Natrona County Circuit Court Judge Michael Patchen on Friday.

Webb had been previously charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of felony property destruction after he tried to run over his wife, Julie, and crashed into several other vehicles in late June.

If convicted on those counts, he faced a maximum penalty of 30 years behind bars.

If convicted on the new count, he faces a minimum of 20 years imprisonment.

During his initial appearance, he told Patchen that the constitutional rights he had been read at the beginning of the hearing were vague and that the district attorney had blackmailed him.

As Patchen responded, Webb became argumentative until the judge told him that was a matter for district court.

Patchen also raised his bond from $50,000 to $100,000.
