YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — The National Park Service is making improvements to one of its visitor centers in Yellowstone National Park.

The Albright Visitor Center in Mammoth Hot Springs will be retrofit to better withstand earthquakes and to make it more accessible.

The center was originally built as bachelor officer's quarters by the U.S. Army in 1909 and has been used for a variety of uses before being made into a visitor center.

In addition, exhibits and displays inside the center will also be receiving a makeover. In addition, the renovated center will contain a backcountry permit office and a bookstore.

The project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2015.

During the project, the visitor center operations will be relocated into a temporary building nearby.
