The Wyoming Cowboys will play their first road game since 2015 in the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge Series for men's basketball in 2018.

The two conferences released the series pairings Thursday, and the Pokes will play at Evansville against the Purple Aces on Wednesday, Nov. 28. The game time and any television coverage will be announced at a later date.

UW is 2-1 all-time against Evansville and hasn’t faced the Purple Aces since Dec. 5, 1989. The Cowboys won that game 66-64. Their only visit to Evansville, IN was Dec. 23, 1988, which was an 84-63 loss. The first meeting in the series was Nov. 30, 1974, in Laramie. That resulted in a 96-71 Wyoming victory.

The Cowboys-Purple Aces match-up is part of 10 games in the series in late November and early December 2018. The most notable match-up will be a rematch of the Sweet 16 game between Nevada and Loyola Chicago Nov. 27.

The MW leads the all-time series through seven years with a 3-1-3 record. The two leagues have split the 10 games (5-5) over the last two seasons.

Last season Wyoming defeated Drake, 96-89, in double overtime in Laramie as part of the MW/MVC Challenge Series.

This is the first known game for Wyoming men’s basketball in the upcoming 2018-19 season.
