Wyoming troopers recently seized 50 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Sweetwater County.

Sgt. Kyle McKay says troopers conducting truck inspections stopped a car carrier on Interstate 80 on April 22.

The traffic stop led to a search of the tractor trailer and 23 packages of crystal meth were found in a pickup that was being transported.

McKay says the meth, which had a street value of more than $425,000, was found in two modified compartments under the pickup.

McKay says it appears the driver of the car carrier had no prior knowledge of the meth or the hidden compartments on the pickup and is not being considered a suspect in the case.

The incident remains under investigation by the Patrol and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
