A Bar Nunn teenager is dead following a rollover crash north of Evansville Monday afternoon.

Trinaty Carlson, 16, died in the back of an ambulance after the crash that occurred at 2:34 p.m. Monday near milepost 2.5 on Wyoming Highway 256, about three miles north of Evansville.

According to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Carlson was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 southbound on WY 256. The Patrol says the Ford failed to properly negotiate a curve in the highway, was overcorrected and crossed the centerline and northbound lane before it left the highway to the east.

The pickup tripped and rolled multiple times down a steep embankment in the east ditch. Carlson and her passenger, 17-year-old Dominic Williams of Casper, were not wearing their seatbelts. They were thrown from the vehicle.

Both were taken to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. Williams was hospitalized, but Carlson did not survive the ambulance ride.

The Patrol is investigating speed and careless driving as contributing factors. Carlson was the 34th person killed on Wyoming highways in 2016. The same period in 2015 saw 57 highway deaths statewide.
