A Wyoming resident is dead after reportedly crashing his pickup truck into the back of a commercial truck Monday afternoon on a highway near Greybull.

Simon Augedahl, 28, was not wearing a seat belt when he was fatally injured, according to a crash report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The driver and passenger inside the commercial truck were not injured.

The Patrol says shortly before 3:30 p.m. Monday, the commercial truck had pulled into a closed business to make a U-turn. The truck couldn't pull all the way through the parking lot due to snow, so the driver decided to back out of the parking lot onto U.S. 14.

The passenger of the commercial truck got out to flag traffic. When the backing was completed, the passenger got back into the truck, and the driver started to head westbound on U.S. 14.

Seconds later, the driver told troopers, he felt something hit his vehicle from behind.

Augedahl had been coming from a job site just east of Shell, the Patrol says, and rear-ended the semi-truck in the westbound lane near mile post 16.

The Patrol listed driver inattention as a contributing factor in the crash. Roads were dry and weather was clear when the crash occurred.
