CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Firefighters are making progress containing a wildfire in Converse County that has burned more than 10 square miles. The Little Boxelder Fire, about 10 miles south of Glenrock, destroyed an abandoned structure, but homes are no longer threatened thanks to firefighter’s efforts.
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A weekly Native American sweat lodge ceremony east of Casper will go on as planned, despite fire restrictions. A fire truck will be stationed next to the sweat lodge during the Sunday ceremonies. Firefighters were recently called to the property near the Edness K. Wilkins State Park when someone reported smoke in the area.
RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Libraries in Fremont County are waiving fines for overdue materials if the borrowers donate school supplies. Terry Dunn of the Fremont County Library in Lander says the school supply program lets people help others during the summer. The libraries have a similar program in November and December where patrons can bring in cans of food to wipe out their fines.
GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Martin Engineering is opening a new sales and service center in Gillette. It will be the first service center in Wyoming for the Illinois-based company that makes conveyor belt cleaning systems.
