Wyoming Lottery Corporation Getting Organized

The organization charged with setting up a lottery in Wyoming is meeting this week in Casper. The Wyoming Lottery Corporation is holding organizational meetings, and selected K2-Radio’s Brian “Scott” Gamroth as chairman of the nine member board. Governor Matt Mead announced the board last week.

The group will be meeting regularly as they develop plans and procedures for the state to participate in a lottery, following the legislature’s approval of a new law allowing the state to participate in a multi-state game such as Powerball, or create an in-state lottery.

Lawmakers believe participation in a lottery will gross up to $25 million a year, netting approximately $6 million. Under the lottery law, the first $6 million of net proceeds would benefit local governments, with additional monies going to Wyoming schools.
