CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming legislative leaders are considering a request to investigate schools Superintendent Cindy Hill's administration of the state Education Department.

The Legislature's Management Council meets Friday afternoon in Cheyenne to discuss the request by state House Speaker Tom Lubnau to empanel a special investigative committee. The special committee could recommend that the entire House begin impeachment proceedings against Hill.

The Management Council oversees legislative matters when lawmakers are not in session.

Lubnau made the request for a special committee after an inquiry reported possible misuse of federal funding while Hill ran the Education Department. Hill has denied any wrongdoing and says she is a victim of a political witch hunt.

Hill's authority over the department was stripped by a state law enacted this past winter. Hill is challenging the law's constitutionality.
