Some may refer to it as the forgotten war, however those from Wyoming who served, were remembered and honored.

On Thursday, June 30th, Wyoming Governor Matt Mead along with South Korean Consul General Chae-Hyun Shin presented more than 100 Republic of Korea Ambassador for Peace Medals, to those from the Cowboy State that served in the Korean War.

Eighty-five year old and Casper born Marine Sergeant Brad Bochmann served in the early stages of the war, that lasted from 1950 to 1953.

He says he was in Korea within three weeks after the war started, and adds when he got the word that he was being shipped out, his family was the first thing that came to mind.

"My mother and I were very close. I was the oldest of eight kids and that's the first thing I thought about...worried about Mom and Dad, and when I called them and told them that we were leaving, mother took it pretty hard, but that's what we're trained for. We're trained to go over there and that's what we did."

Bochmann says he was in Korea for 13 months.

The medals were awarded at ceremonies held in Cheyenne, Casper and Lander.
