The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating two accidents including one fatal this afternoon, a spokesman said.

Patrolmen were called to milepost 17 on Wyoming Highway 259, which runs between Edgerton and milepost 210 on Interstate 25, Capt. Shawn Dickerson said.

The Highway Patrol received a call at 12:53 p.m. that a Kenworth truck and a 1994 Ford pickup were involved in the accident that left one person dead, Dickerson said.

One of the troopers was called to that scene while working a previous accident on U.S. Highway 20-26 at the Salt Creek Highway intersection, he said.

That accident involved three vehicles, and blocked traffic on U.S. 20-26 from under the Salt Creek overpass east to the exit to Salt Creek Highway.

Dickerson said he did not have any more information on the accidents, including whether there were other injuries.

As of this morning, before the report of the fatality on Wyoming Highway 259, there have been 95 reported fatalities in the state compared to 57 this time last year, according to the patrol's website.
