CODY, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is urging hunters and others who go into bear country to use caution and carry bear spray.

Tara Teaschner is Cody information and education specialist for the game department.

Teaschner says the department expects an increase in bear-human encounters as bears become more active and hunters continue to pursue game in the field.

Teaschner says hunters are more at risk of encountering bears because they often move quietly, wear camouflage, are active at dawn and dusk and use game calls to mimic bear prey.
