Brett Smith set two school records, accounted for 511 yards of total offense and five touchdowns, as the Wyoming Cowboys rolled past the Air Force Falcons, 56-23, in Colorado Springs Saturday night.

Smith set records for most touchdown passes in a career, with 60 in just 2-plus seasons, and for most yards of total offense in a single game with 511. He was 35-of-41 for 373 yards and four touchdown passes of 7, 61, 4 and 10-yards. Two of those to Dominic Rufran, while Jalen Claiborne and Robert Herron also had t-d grabs. Smith also ran for 138 yards and a touchdown.

Wyoming (3-1, 1-0) also saw Shaun Wick score twice on the ground and add 55 yards rushing, while Tedder Easton capped the scoring with a 2-yard run with 8:13 left.

Air Force (1-3, 0-3) scored first for a 7-0 lead, but UW answered right back. Smith ran 74 yards to the Falcons 1-yard line before throwing a 7-yard t-d pass to Dominic Rufran. That was the first of four touchdown strikes in the game for Smith.

After a field goal by Air Force put the Falcons ahead 10-7 with 8:50 left in the first quarter, the Cowboys scored 42 of the next 49 points in the game. The Pokes rolled up 454 yards in the first half and finished with 622 total yards of offense. They also compiled 34 first downs in a dominant effort.

Linebackers Lucas Wacha and Jordan Stanton led the defense with 10 and 9 tackles, respectively.

UW set a school record by scoring 30 or more points in a fourth consecutive game. The 56 scored were the most in a game since 1997.

The Cowboys return to non-conference action next Saturday at the Texas State Bobcats. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m., Mountain time. You can listen to Wyoming Cowboy football on KOWB (AM 1290) with the coverage beginning at 4 p.m.
