CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — For the 24th straight month, a business conditions index that tracks Wyoming's economy remained on a positive footing in October.

The index is compiled by the Denver-based Goss Institute for Economic Research.

Wyoming's index declined to 60.9 in October, down from 66.8 in September. However, an index greater than 50 still suggests economic expansion in coming months.

Institute Director Ernie Goss says energy and energy support firms continue to report robust growth in the state.

On the other hand, he says manufacturing not linked to energy experienced pullbacks for the month.

The business conditions index is a mathematical average of indices for new orders, production or sales, employment, inventories and delivery lead time.
