One month and a day after they began, WYDOT crews from Laramie and Saratoga broke through historically deep and heavy snowpack on WYO 130. The alpine roadway between Centennial and Saratoga is now open for the season.

The men worked 60 hour weeks. The last ten working days, dozers moved snow until midnight. Equipment dedicated to the high country snow removal campaign included three snow cats, four dozers, six rotary blowers, and two plows.

Motorists are advised that these turnaround spots are open on WYO 130: Libby Turn Loop, Libby Flats Observation Area, Medicine Bow Peak Overlook, both East and West Lake Marie turnarounds, and the Silver Lake parking lot.

Attention now turns to clearing snow on WYO 70 between Encampment and Baggs.

A recent slide 30 miles east of Baggs destroyed the road for about 600 feet. This section will continue to be impassable until the road is rebuilt. However, after the snow is removed people will be able to access their cabins below the slide on the Baggs side and above the slide from the Encampment side.
