Significant reconstruction work is about to begin at the intersection of Casper Mountain Road and Outer Drive, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

WYDOT District 2 spokesperson Jeff Goetz says crews spent Monday setting up traffic control near the intersection and work will begin later this week.

“Basically, what we’re doing is rebuilding it, kind of like the intersection of Poplar Street and Wyoming Boulevard that we did a couple of years ago,” Goetz said. “New signals, turn lanes, curb and gutter – that sort of thing.”

When completed, the intersection will also feature expanded shoulders and sidewalks and ADA-compliant cross-walks.

Goetz says motorists can expect one-lane traffic near the intersection during construction.

“What people will see is one lane in either direction, but it will be moved to different sides of the road (as construction progresses),” Goetz said.

Goets says the project should be completed by October.
