Crews are making significant progress on a major reconstruction project at the intersection of Casper Mountain Road and Outer Drive.

“The first half of that job is already poured and we’re already driving on that,” Wyoming Department of Transportation spokesperson Jeff Goetz said. “That project is really moving along quickly.”

Goetz also said it's possible the intersection will be fully operational sooner than anticipated.

“I think the date on that (project) is the end of October, but, with the way it’s going right now, it should beat that,” Goetz said. “By the end of this summer, we should be driving on a new intersection.”

When completed, the intersection will feature new traffic signals, turn lanes, curb and gutter, expanded shoulders and sidewalks and ADA-compliant cross-walk ramps.

The project began in April.
