Woman Gets 7 Years In Murder Plot Against Husband

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A 44-year-old Cheyenne woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison for using a cellphone to hire someone to kill her husband.

Brenda Poteet had pleaded guilty earlier to using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of a murder for hire.

She was sentenced on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Nancy Freudenthal.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/uJfCzD ) that her prison sentence will be followed by three years of probation.

Prosecutors say Poteet called and met with an undercover officer, offering to pay him $5,000 to kill her then-husband.
