Windy Conditions Likely Statewide Today, Blowing & Drifting Snow Expected In Southeastern Wyoming

Our latest weather system and cold front will move out of the state by mid-day today.  Expect partially clearing skies and mainly dry weather conditions statewide during the afternoon and evening hours.  High winds, however, will be found throughout southeastern Wyoming today and tonight, with gusts between 50 and 60 mph.  As a result, blowing and drifting snow will be likely and significant travel concerns will continue.  Poor visibility with slick, icy, and snowpacked roads are expected, including I-80 (Rawlins to Cheyenne), I-25 (Colorado state line to Chugwater), and US-85 (Colorado state line to LaGrange).  Elsewhere, wind gusts will remain between 35 and 50 mph, but no significant travel concerns are expected.  Temperatures will be cold and below average throughout the state today, with highs in the 30's and 40's.

High winds (45 to 60 mph) are expected through mid-day on Thursday, which will continue to create significant travel concerns due to blowing and drifting snow.  Winds will then lessen for the rest of the day, but will still remain strong at times.  We also cannot rule out a few flurries or light snow showers statewide, but little to no new accumulations are expected.  With the exception of southeastern Wyoming, expect no major travel concerns on Thursday.  Temperatures will also remain colder than normal.

Higher pressure brings warmer and more settled weather to the state on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
