High winds are challenging construction efforts at the site of Natrona County Fire District''s new firehall. The replacement for station seven is going up west of Casper off of Robertson Road and Fire Chief Kevin Finn says workers are getting hammered by this weeks winds.

"The walls are up and they just got started on the roof, but they need no wind. They're putting the roof and insulation up there and that's the portion that's really giving them fits right now."

Finn says they're crossing their fingers hoping for at least a week long window of calm soon.

Right now, he says they're getting in short work days as they construct the facility that replaces the station on Pheasant drive. The move gets them further into the county and out of Casper. Future access to a westside by-pass will mean quicker response times, satisfying Natrona County residents who'd been calling for a more western situated station.

Completion is expected by around May 15th.
