WHEATLAND, Wyo. (AP) — Firefighters are battling a 1,200-acre fire in Guernsey State Park that forced campers and visitors to evacuate the park.
The Associated Press reported Sunday that a shelter for evacuees was set up at the Wheatland 4H Building.

Fire crews directed by Platte County and the Bureau of Land Management were battling the blaze, which began late Saturday. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damaged structures.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known.

Police were escorting evacuees back into the park on Sunday to retrieve their belongings and recreational vehicles.
