At 9 p.m. EST on Tuesday night, President Obama will deliver the State of the Union address from the floor of the House of Representatives in Washington. It will be his sixth such message, the first before a Republican-controlled Congress, following the GOP's victories in the 2014 midterms.

The president is expected to introduce several new tax proposals, following up on his recent push for free community-college education, and announce further plans to address climate change, problems with the country's immigration system and possibly the upcoming Supreme Court case on the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare), among other topics.

The White House has set up an information page on the State of the Union, containing links to issues the speech will cover and offering ways to engage with the material. The Republican response will be given by newly elected Senator Joni Ersnt, of Iowa, soon after the president finishes.
