The Wyoming Veterans Commission has a great new website with news and information and it's the place to go to find out where and when to access a veterans service officer in your area. This month service officers will be out and about help veterans and their families starting tomorrow in Casper and Sundance.

" Our veterans' service officers meet with veterans and their families and they help them with their state and federal veterans' benefits, VA healthcare, and they also help them with the VA disability and pension claim process."

Larry Bartlebort is director of the Wyoming Veterans Commission. He says they're also available to family members of active military.

"We refer them to state and federal agencies that can help. We try to do what we call a 'warm hand off'. We don't like to just give somebody a slip of paper with a phone number. We try to connect them with the people who can do the best job of providing them with the services that they need."

Veterans and their family members are encouraged to take advantage of a service officer when they're in the area. A schedule of availablity can be found at that new Wyoming Veterans Commission website.

"At google.com Wyo.gov Wyoming Military Department. And if you use the drop down menu for Veterans Commission you can find the outreach agenda."
