LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — University of Wyoming students involved in the official UW athletics student fan club are no longer known as the Stampede.

The UW Athletics Department has rebranded its official student fan organization as the Wild Bunch.
The university says the new moniker is designed to help remind UW students of the attitude and persona they should embody when cheering on the Cowboys and Cowgirls.

The new name also has a historic Wyoming tie-in as western legend Butch Cassidy and his outlaw gang were known as the Wild Bunch.

Memberships in the organization cost $15 and include a Wild Bunch t-shirt, reward card to help purchase apparel and merchandise, free food at select events, special prizes and first-chance opportunities at postseason tickets.
