LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The libraries at the University of Wyoming have achieved membership in an alliance that officials say bolsters the university's reputation as a top research institution.

The UW libraries are now members of the Greater Western Library Alliance, a consortium of 32 research libraries in the central and western United States. The alliance works to increase scholarly communication and facilitates new information technologies.

Maggie Farrell is dean of UW libraries. She says the inclusion of UW in the alliance validates the university's goal of developing a research library that supports teaching and research for students and faculty.
