Four candidates for the position of Associate Vice President and Dean of Students will interview for the job on the UW campus over the course of April.

According to the University, each of the four candidates will make a presentation on “Emerging Issues Relevant to Student Affairs."  The presentations will be open to the public.

The dates, times and locations of these presentations are as follows:

  • Eric Norman- 9:00am April 8th, Wyoming Union Family Room
  • Sean Blackburn- 9:00 am April 15th, Wyoming Union Family Room
  • Jason Casares- 9:00 am April 16th, Wyoming Union Family Room
  • Timothy Wise-  9:00 am April 17th, Wyoming Union East Ballroom

Norman, the current dean of students at Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne, holds a doctorate of education from the University of Delaware.

Blackburn, the associate dean of students at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., holds a master of education in student affairs administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Casares is the associate dean of students and director in the Office of Student Ethics at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. He holds a doctorate of philosophy degree from the University of Arizona.

Wise, the vice president for student affairs at the College of Central Florida in Ocala, Fla., holds a doctorate of education degree from Florida State University.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend all sessions, ask questions and evaluate the candidates, says Sara Axelson, UW vice president for student affairs.

All individuals who participate must complete the Diverse Workforce online training through the Human Resources Department. For information, and to register for the training, visit the UW Human Resources website.

A screening committee narrowed the pool of applicants and recommended the finalists for Axelson.
