A two vehicle crash on November 13th resulted in the death of a Salt Lake City, Utah man. The crash happened at 11:20 p.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound approximately 25 miles east of Evanston, Wyoming.

An SUV was being driven by 25 year old Mayol K. Riathin of Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Riathin was travelling west on I 80 when he lost control on the icy roadway. He slid off of the highway to the south, crossed the median and came to rest broadside in the eastbound lane of Interstate 80.

A tractor-trailer combination unit driven by 55 year old Nerses Saribekian of Portland, Oregon had just entered onto I 80 east from an onramp. Mr. Saribekian saw the SUV in the middle of the interstate and braked to avoid a crash but was unable to stop in time and collided with the smaller truck. The tractor struck the passenger side of the SUV broadside.

Mr. Riathin was taken to the hospital where he eventually died. Mr. Saribekian was uninjured. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Speed too fast for the existing roadway conditions is being investigated as the contributing factor in this accident. Mr. Riathin marked the 134th highway fatality for Wyoming in 2014.
