The state of Wyoming will be dealing with wind and snow for the next two days as 2011 winds down. The Casper area is under a High Wind Warning and western Wyoming is dealing with Winter Storm Warnings.High Wind Warning for the Casper area through 8am Thursday morning. Southwest wind sustained at 40mph with gusts to 60mph is possible at the peak of the wind.

High Wind Warning for the Green Mountains, Rattlesnake Range including Jeffrey City and the Cody Foothills including the Cody and Meeteetse areas through 9pm Thursday night. West winds at 40mph with gusts to 60mph. Local wind gusts to 75mph could occur around Clark.

High Wind Warning remains in effect through 9pm Thursday night southeast Wyoming. Sustained winds of 30 to 45mph with frequent gusts to around 60mph.

High Wind Watch is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening for the Laramie, Cheyenne, Glendo, Wheatland, Rawlins areas. Sustained winds of 35 to 45mph with frequent gusts to 60mph are expected.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for portions of western Wyoming from 11am this morning through 5pm Thursday afternoon. This includes Yellowstone Park, Lake, Mammoth and Old Faithful, the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains including the Jackson area, the Absaroka Mountains, Afton, Alpine and Thayne, and in the Pinedale area. Generally 6 to 14 inches of snow in the lower elevations. The Teton Mountains could get between 20 and 30 inches of snow with the Gros Ventre Mountains 12 to 18 inches. The rest of the mountains ranges could see 10 to 20 inches. West winds at 20 to 35mph are also expected with the snow.

The Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center has issued an Avalanche Warning from noon Wednesday until midnight Friday. Heavy snowfall and strong winds will create dangerous conditions in the mountainous areas of western Wyoming. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avalanches could impact roadways on Teton Pass and in the Hoback and Snake River Canyons.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 11am this morning until 5pm Thursday for the Wind River Mountains East. The heaviest snow will fall above 9000 feet where 4 to 8 inches of snow will be common.
