Unseasonably Warm With Increasing Winds, Snow Possible Tonight In SW Wyoming
A strong ridge of high pressure will be the main weather feature across the state of Wyoming today. Expect minimal cloudiness, mainly dry conditions, and unseasonably warm temperatures statewide during the day. Winds, however, will increase and become strong in southeastern Wyoming by this afternoon and evening. Expect wind gusts between 35 and 50 mph at times. Daytime highs will stay in the 50's and 60's with some highs near 70 in the far eastern Plains. A cold front and weather system will then approach the region tonight. This will cause clouds to thicken across much of the state. There will also be a chance for snow in southwestern and south-central Wyoming tonight. Expect only small accumulations, but roads could still become slick and icy in places, especially along I-80 between the Utah state line and Lyman as well as higher elevations (Elk Mountain and the Summit between Laramie and Cheyenne). Noticeably cooler temperatures arrive on Wednesday, but it will still be warmer than normal for most locations. We will also see partly to mostly cloudy skies and strong winds, especially in southeastern Wyoming. A rain/snow mix will then develop later in the day and turn to snow by the evening and overnight hours in northern, central and southeast Wyoming.
