LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A new initiative through the University of Wyoming is helping high school students in the state with their college plans.

Wyoming College Advising Corps is administered by UW's Department of Student Educational Opportunity in the Division of Student Affairs.

The program has placed 10 college access advisers in high schools throughout the state.

It held inaugural college application events during November at Kemmerer, Evanston, Powell, Rawlins, Sheridan, Cheyenne East and Riverton high schools as well as the Shoshone Learning Center in Powell

Nearly 400 students participated, resulting in 276 applications submitted to post-secondary institutions in Wyoming and other states.
