A two-vehicle crash forced Casper Police to close down a bridge west of downtown.

Police on scene say sometime before 8pm on Thursday March 7th, a pickup truck heading north on Poplar Street, north of First Street just before the railroad bridge, was stopped on the highway because it ran out of gas, when it was hit from behind by another vehicle.

The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to go in opposite directions over the curb and partially down the side of the hill.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and police had to close the bridge for more than one hour, to allow tow truck crews to clean up the mess.

Investigators are still trying to determine several factors such as whether the pickup had its hazard lights on, how fast was the other vehicle going at the time of the collision, and if alcohol was involved.
