Tuf Cooper Wins CFD Rodeo Title 20 Years After Dad

Nick Perkins, Townsquare Media

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Trevor Brazile fended off a challenge from a much older competitor to win the steer roping title at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.

The all-around championship of the rodeo known as the “Daddy of ‘em All” went to tie-down and team roper Tuf Cooper. Cooper is 23 and won Frontier Days 20 years after his father, steer roper Roy Cooper, won Frontier Days in 1993.

Cooper and Brazile are brothers in law from Decatur, Texas.

Brazile’s win in steer roping at Sunday’s finals helps to cement his standing atop the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association all-around standings with winnings of more than $122,000.

Brazile is 36 and on Sunday retook the steer-roping lead from 62-year-old Dan Fisher. Fisher, of Andrews, Texas, finished second Sunday and was second overall in steer roping.
