Eight teams that competed in post-season play are part of the 2018-19 Wyoming Cowgirls basketball schedule released Monday.

Six of those teams that played in post-season tournaments are in the Mountain West Conference. They were in the field of either the NCAA Tournament, WNIT or Women's Basketball Invitational.

The Cowgirls open next season with three straight home games. The season officially begins Wednesday, Nov. 7 against Chadron State. UC-Colorado Springs (Nov. 13) and Adams State (Nov. 18) will also visit the Arena-Auditorium in the first month. Wyoming will play in the Pacific Thanksgiving Classic in Stockton, CA Nov. 23 and 24. November concludes with a home game versus Montana State Nov. 27.

There are only three games in December and all are at home. Denver comes to Laramie on Dec. 4, while Idaho comes to the AA on Dec. 8 and South Dakota State stops in on Dec. 20. The Vandals were part of the WNIT last year, while the Jackrabbits were in the NCAA Tournament.

The schedule makers didn’t do the Cowgirls any favors with Mountain West play. UW will play the two teams that tied for the regular season title to start the conference season. Wyoming plays at regular and post-season tournament champion Boise State Jan. 2 for their first league game. The Cowgirls then return home against UNLV Jan. 5 and San Diego State Jan. 9. The Aztecs are one of the two “one-time” opponents in conference play.

UW’s other “one-time” opponent has them on the road at Nevada on Feb. 16. The “Border War” games are at Colorado State Feb. 9 and home versus the Rams Feb. 23. The Cowgirls close the regular season at New Mexico Thursday, March 7.

Wyoming's two byes in their conference slate are Wednesday, Jan. 16 and Saturday, Feb. 2.

The Mountain West Championships will be March 10-13 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center.
