A Natrona County man has admitted to stealing a car, so he could sell some parts of it.

Terry Johnston was sentenced to three-to-six years in prison, after he pleaded guilty to two charges of theft.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say in April, they received an anonymous tip that Johnston had acquired the master key for the vehicle lock boxes, during an earlier break-in at a car dealership.

He later stole a 2007 GMC Yukon and the plan was to drive it to Gillette so he could part it out.

Gillette police were able to find Johnston and the car, plus a stolen vehicle trailer.

Prosecutors said at the time, Johnston was on probation out of Campbell County for an unrelated charge of conspiracy to commit auto burglary.

That probation has since been revoked, and he was given a two-to-six year prison sentence.

Both prison sentences will be served at the same time.
