RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — A task force is examining possibilities for an $85 million renovation project for the Rawlins prison or building a new prison at a different location for $170 million.

A meeting on Thursday focused on previous construction problems, including cracking in a gymnasium wall that prompted concerns over the stability of the current prison.

The Rawlins Times reports engineers were called in when the crack got larger.

Task force members say they need to know why there were construction problems at the current prison before they can make recommendations to the legislature about future construction.
