A Casper woman has received her punishment for hitting a child.

Tamika Wallace was given a three to five year suspended prison sentence, with three years of probation for child abuse.

According to prosecutors, in May 2011, a self-help employee was at Wallace's home to diffuse a situation, when she noticed some bruising on the back of the child.

Casper police and the Department of Family Services were notified of the situation and during the investigation Wallace admitted she spanked the child with a belt,  then called his school to say that he was sick.

Wallace told investigators that she spanked the child because he was talking back to her.
