A Casper man is admitting he was involved in a head-on crash last year.

Talcon Patik has pleaded guilty to one charge of driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury.

Investigators say last August, Patik was driving on Outer Drive near the area of south McKinley Street.

He crossed into the other lane of traffic in an attempt to pass some other vehicles, but shortly after changing lanes, he collided head-on with another vehicle going in the opposite direction.

The other driver, Rachael Shippen, suffered a number of serious injuries as a result of the collision.

It was later determined that Patik had been drinking before the crash occurred.

As part of a plea agreement, the state will seek a prison sentence of no more than five years.

Patik is being held on one-hundred thousand dollars bond, and will be sentenced at a later date.
