Sometimes it's the simple joys in life that you learn to appreciate the most. That's probably why I've found a peculiar joy watching an elk herd frolicking in a pond in Wapiti, Wyoming.
The Smith Mansion could be straight from a Dr. Seuss book. The building is a series of additions on top of addition each one more ornate than the last. And the construction still continues.
Patrick Bishop, a friend of mine, has been out in the field the last couple of weeks with his son chasing after the wily Wapiti. He reports that the elk are active are bugling and are aggressive this hunting season. Many areas are open to bow hunting at this time and offers a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with these mighty beasts.
