Wyoming Sets Day To Thank Veterans

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — People around Wyoming will be encouraged to say thanks to all veterans on March 30, which has been designated Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day.

This will be the second annual event after Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day was codified into state law last year

SALT LAKE CITY --- The mystery behind a package of seven medals that a World War II veteran received in the mail has been solved.

A federal official says 93-year-old Tom Harrison of Salt Lake City requested the medals in April as part of a larger application for military records

“I thought I was going to catch the ball or go over the railing,” said Michael Kacer of the foul ball he caught at Yankee Stadium Friday.

The 29-year old vet had lost his left arm in Afghanistan, so he had nothing to brace himself with when he used his baseball cap as a glove and reached over the railing to snag a ball off of the bat of Curtis Granderson.
