High Court Rejects Challenge To Roadless Rule

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has turned away an appeal challenging a federal rule that bars development on 50 million acres of roadless areas in national forests.

The justices said Monday they will leave in place a federal appeals court decision that upheld the so-called roadless rule that took effect late in the presidency of Bill Clinton

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals denied a state of Wyoming Mining Association petition that sought to to overturn the 2001 National Forest Road-less Rule.

By doing so the Court upheld its reversal of the decision by Judge Clarence Brimmer and reaffirmed the legality of the rule that prohibits development on nearly 60 million acres
