The University of Wyoming's Board of Trustees took a step forward to enact a plan to create new student housing. The university's closure of two dorm buildings last year is also contributing to the impending student housing shortage.

The draft housing plan was created by a national design firm specializing in campus housing.

The plan is expected to be completed and presented to the Board of Trustees before the end of this year.

The university hopes to have the new residence halls built or under construction by 2022.
