Casper Mountain got an early Christmas present with over 20 inches of snow from the storm that came through the state Wednesday. Here's some of the  highest snow totals from the the National Weather Service in Riverton:

Winter Storm To Hit Wyoming

A Winter storm System will begin to invade Wyoming starting later tonight and continue through Thursday morning. This is not a major storm but will bring measurable snow to most of the state.

UPDATED Winter Weather Warnings & Advisories (As Of 8:30am)

The Winter Weather Advisory for Casper and Casper Mountain did expire at 8am. Reports of up to 4 inches in the Casper area and 12-14 inches on Casper Mountain.

Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 3pm this afternoon for the Rawlins, Sinclair, Hanna, Baggs, Centennial, Woods Landing areas

Winter Storm System To Hit Wyoming Today Through Thursday

Winter Storm Warning is in effect from noon today through 9am Thursday morning for north central Wyoming including the Sheridan, Ranchester, the Big Horn Mountains including Burgess Junction. 4 to 8 inches of snow is expected with around a foot across the Big Horns

When Thunder Roars Get To Shore; National Lightening Safety Week

More than 400 people are struck by lightning in the U.S. each year. Around 10 percent of those deaths happen in Wyoming.

The National Weather Service is addressing those high numbers with National Lightning Safety Awareness Week that kicks off Monday.

"Historically Wyoming has had a very high lightening casualty rate per capita. So again for the number of people who live in our state, the rate with lightening injuries and deaths is very high."
