Flying the friendly skies is one thing. Being forced to pony up the cash to do it while en route is something else entirely.
But that’s what happened on a flight operated by Austria-based carrier Comtel earlier this week.
While Bank of America and other major banks have now scrapped a widely-derided plan to charge customers a monthly fee for using their debit cards, a new survey shows at least 650,000 people closed their accounts with those banks in the past month and fled to more consumer-friendly credit unions.

So says Phoenix Marketing International, which just released its annual roundup of the states with the most millionaires and found that for the second year in a row, the overall number of millionaire households in the US actually went up.
Netflix, the one-time master of customer service, just can’t seem to get it right anymore. On Monday, the video rental giant revealed in its third quarter report that it has lost about 800,000 subscribers since June, and the company expects to lose more in the coming months.
Citing the economic downtown and rising food costs, the parent of the Friendly’s restaurant chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Wednesday and closed 63 underperforming stores.
The 76-year-old franchise, based in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and known for its ice cream and hamburgers, will continue to operate more than 400 restaurants as it restructures.
