River Inches Up After Storms

Additional flows out of Grey Reef Reservoir should have been noticeable here in Casper this afternoon. Emergency Manager, Lt Stew Anderson, says a slight increase of about 200 cfs brings us to around 8300 Cubic Feet per second, but he cautions that the additional rain that fell last night will also make a difference.

"We're also seeing what the streams that come from the west, Powder River and Casper Creek, what those bring in today from the storms that we had yesterday. It just takes awhile for that water to gather and get into those creeks and make its way to the river."

Limited Sandbag Distribution Starts Saturday

Natrona County Emergency Managers will make a limited number of bags available to residents at risk of flooding this Saturday. If your concerned call the Emergency Manager for your area to check on whether you qualify.

Managers will target areas and high value structures most at risk.

Bags and the sand to fill them will be available at stations located on both sides of town.

You know the river's high and fast and according to officials at the Natural Resources Conservation Service its only the beginning. The N-R-C-S issued high water runoff notifications Monday for much of the state.
