Burning Cigerette Destroys Trailer

Falling asleep while smoking means loss of a home and a trip to the hospital for a elderly woman in North Casper.

Casper fire-EMS reports that a trailer fire on West H Street did extensive damage. Spokesman, Pat McJunkin, says crews arrived on scene at around 3am to find a single-wide trailer about 25 percent engulfed in flames.

"A short time after they arrived they'd extinguished the fire. Before fire EMS units arrived, the police were on scene, and the single occupant of the home had evacuated, but she was in need of medical attention."

Pepper Spray Suspected In Roosevelt H.S. Evacuation

Roosevelt High School Students and Staff get an early release this afternoon following reports of an airborne contaminant.

"At approximately 1 o'clock today we received a call that we had three students and an adult at Roosevelt High School who we're experiencing redness of the eyes, burning of the throat and we suspected it was some form of  pepper spray, but on the advice of the Casper Fire Department we did evacuate the building."

Fire Consumes North Casper Houses [PHOTOS]

According to Kenny King with the Casper Fire Department, the latest concern with the fire on the 700 block of St. Mary Street in north Casper is some possible pressurized oxygen cylinders located within the houses. Because of fuel loading in the two houses, the Fire Department plans to contain the fire and let it burn out. King points out that this containment process will continue through the night.

The Fire Fighter Combat Challenge last year in downtown Casper was apparently the biggest turn out for a regional challenge event in the country. That's something that Casper Fire-Ems and those who put on the event feel really good about.
